Labor Day Weekend! This is a SORBA IMBA North Carolina\South Carolina Alliance Member Festival. Also commonly referred to as “Maidafest”. We will be riding Dupont and other Pisgah favorites. Depending on the rsvp’s stating that you are interested in beginner rides or family rides, we will be talking to you and others asking for volunteers to help organize and lead. Rides: (Note: We still need additional ride leaders who are willing to ride\lead alternative routes or locations for those who do not want to ride Saturday and Sunday’s routes. E-mail David H.) Friday…Jeff LeBlanc will be leading a ride through Dupont. I will be arriving on Thursday, so I will do an easy two part ride on Friday to warm you up for the weekend epics ;-) If you arrive on Friday and want to catch the afternoon run, let me know and we’ll meet you. We’ll start the morning ride at Guion Farm and hit some favorite trails from there, “Ridgeline, Isaac Heath, Jim Branch, etc. After a on site lunch break and a little play time on the Skills Course, we’ll drive over to Corn Mill Shoals and hit the favorites over there, “Burnt Mt. Bridal Veil Falls, Cedar Rock, etc. Each of these runs will be 10-15 miles long. Sunday 9:30am leave camp. 10:30am at yellow gap to start riding…Mini epic ride through Pisgah. Laurel Mountain to Pilot Mountain down Pilot’s rocky steep trails with rocky switchbacks. At this point riders can choose to bail and loop back to parking or continue through Pilot Cove and Slate Rock for a longer more advanced route. Here is the ride description with route. Read the description carefully…3350 ft. with Pilots well known rocky downhill. Add a comment either below or wherever if you want to bring a side. We’ve got burgers, dogs, and buns in the freezer from other cookouts, so unless we go over 15-20 peeps, I won’t need to run to BJs for more meat. There is a newborn at my house and a (so far) understanding wife. BYOB if you plan on more than a couple. Homebrew is on tap, but I’m not sure how much is left and how quickly the next batch will be ready. Bring a camp chair. We will be outside, so as not to bother the baby. —————————————————————————————– If you love mountain biking and care about the environment, you belong with IMBA.
