Several hours of riding in a few self-seeded groups based on pace. Plan to leave the venue about 3 to 4 PM, and we'll be home in time for dinner. Bring all your own water, food, snacks, etc. There are no restrooms at this location. No specific course, just a lot of fun riding on the trails that are used for the 24 hour of Burn race. For those not familiar with the Dark Mountain Trails (http://www.bmcc.us/ke...) there is a lot of climbing, and several fun descents.

Triangle Off Road Cyclists (TORC)

Ok, getting specifics on the Pisgah\Dupont\Bent Creek weekend trip: Friday arrivals 5 hour drive, set up camp and then a short ride either at North Slope, Black Mtn. or Sycamore Cove Saturday morning Pisgah riders…Seasonal Butter Gap with Daniel Ridge added into the ride…4-6 hours…led by Maida and accompanied by myself and others with cue sheets and gps. Here is a map for Saturday's Ride This is a tough ride for intermediate and up. The route is counter clockwise and starts and ends at the Fish Hatchery. Don't be mislead by mileage. Pisgah miles are not like regular miles. Depending on the speed of the group this ride will take 4-6 hours Sunday morning Pisgah riders…Seasonal Black Mtn., Buckwheat, and Bennett Gap…3-5 hours…led by Maida and accompanied by myself and others with cue sheets and gps. Here is a map for Sunday's Ride This is a tough ride for intermediate and up. The route is counter clockwise and starts and ends on FS 477 near the Horse Stables. Don't be mislead by mileage. Pisgah miles are not like regular miles. Depending on the speed of the group this ride will take 3-5 hours. If you feel like these rides will be over your skill level No worries, we will set you up with something more your speed. We are still looking for people to volunteer to lead the easier rides. Now I need to know who does not want to ride these Pisgah seasonal trails and will only be interested in Dupont or Bent Creek? I also need to know who is willing and able to lead groups through either of these trail networks? Once I know this information Maida and I can assist by giving cue sheets, maps and possibly gpx files to any of these ride leaders. This is important to make sure that all people coming will have a good time. So please update your rsvp’s accordingly on where you want to ride and\or e-mail me so that we can get people information that they need. Camping, there are no spots left at Davidson River for sites that can be reserved. The rest are first come first serve. Black Forest campground is close to Dupont and 30 minutes from the seasonal trail heads…seems to be the best secondary campsite. I would suggest that people start communicating site reservations at Black Forest and sharing sites. Ask Maida or me for information about the campsite if you need to. This was set-up as an All Skills event. I would like to see everybody setup and willing to participate. All skills event! Beginner up to Advanced are welcome to attend and will have ride options available. The more people attend the better we will be able to organize groups and ride leaders. Rides: (explicit ride details will be added to the event once we start seeing the numbers of people rsvp and adding their comments) Pisgah intermediate+\advanced: Seasonal trails: http://www.pisgaharea... Dupont (includes beginner gravel roads and trails) http://www.pisgaharea... Bent Creek (includes beginner and low end intermediate trails) http://www.pisgaharea... Camping The FIRST option for camping is at Davidson River Campground. Davidson River is very very popular. It is almost certian to be booked by the date of the trip. If you plan on camping reserve a space NOW! The sites are good sized and can accomidate up to 2 large tents. So we sould try to split sites with our friends and split costs. We are trying to keep our group in the "Apple Tree Loop" sites 34-54. Davidson River: (Preferred choice but need to make reservation quickly) http://www.recreation... The SECOND option for camping is white pines group camp. White pines is a primative group camp. Cost for the weekend is 100.00 If a reasonable sized group of people wanted to camp at white pines and split the cost amongst themselves then go for it! White Pines: http://www.recreation... Both campgrounds have direct access to the Pisgah trails. The 2 campgrounds are seperated by about 2 miles of paved and gravel roads. You could easily ride your bike from one camp to the other. If you love mountain biking and care about the environment, you belong with IMBA. That's because supporting IMBA is the most effective way for you to build, maintain and open the trails you love to ride. Join those who are passionate enough to support the trails they ride on. If you have a vehicle that can haul rock we could use your help. Also, make sure you have sturdy work shoes, work gloves and plenty of water. Specifically what we will be doing is fixing a couple washed out areas near the road bridge as you drive into the middle of the development. The trail that goes underneath the bridge where the grass slopes down from the road to the trail on both sides of the bridge. The construction of the slope used improper fill dirt and not tamped very well. The amount of rain has seeped into this fill dirt and has washed out where water run off converges over our trail. We will use local rock to crib and armor the washed out side slope and rock armor the trail tread surface. We will also rock armor the trail where Stewart and Terry placed wood bridges for the BC race. Same situation there but not as bad. Meet at the community center where we gathered for the BC race. E-mail me or call me at 919 928 3383 If anybody is interested in heading over to Carolina Brewery after our hard work, post up.

fearrington village, NC 27516 - USA

Saturday, March 6 at 9:00 AM

Attending: 5

Details: http://www.meetup.com/torc-nc/calendar/12725396/

Here's how it works: You and your teammate will set out on a city-wide quest for 'checkpoints' on your favorite two-wheeled steeds. At each checkpoint, you'll drop your bikes and complete a funky/adventurous obstacle course, then remount your bikes and hit the streets for more. The goal is to complete all the checkpoints in the shortest amount of time. You choose your own route and checkpoint order. This means that the most clever are often the victors. Of course, it may also help if you can pull a mean big-wheel powerslide and fly across an inflatable slip-n-slide ;) After your pedal-powered adventure, your team will cross the finish line and enter a massive celebration of bikes and beer. The after party is just as much fun as the ride itself, thanks to the craziest raffle prize contest you'll ever experience. Complete Details: http://www.urbanassau...

Raleigh, NC 27623 - USA

Sunday, June 20 at 9:00 AM

Details: http://www.meetup.com/torc-nc/calendar/12672807/
