TORC Workday at Harris Lake County Park--July 14, 2007

Our goal for this recent TORC workday was to construct a 70' boardwalk through a low area that often stays wet and to re-route about 100 yards of existing trail to eliminate badly eroded sections. Six of us worked until about noon when Tim and Dave Lawler had to leave. Stewart, Curt, Ben and Paul hung in until we finished around 4pm. Stewart rented a powerful augur tool for TORC's Vermeer machine and it really sped up boring over 35 holes for the support posts. This turned out to be a very large project for a small group but it turned out well and is a nice improvement to the Park.

Pictures from the boardwalk construction showing the augur work, installation of the posts and support planks and finaly screwing down and trimming the decking.
