Course
You’ll ride for six hours through groves of pines and oaks, past Pokeberry Creek and up (and down!) the rugged terrain of Bennett Mountain.
We’re running it CCW (opposite direction as last year). See the link to the map below. Purple arrows indicate the course. The green is the run-in we’ll use for the first lap only to spread racers out before hitting the single track. And the yellow area near the start/finish is where we’ll have pit setups for racers. Note that you WILL NOT be able to park your cars right next to the pit area so please plan accordingly.
2010 6 B.C., Fat Tire Festival Site Plan (159)
A few notes on the the trail – follow the numbers on the map:
1 – the new singletrack that Stewart and Rob have been working hard on (thanks guys!)
2 – the power line singletrack – a nice flowy and fast slight downhill
3 – the double track climb
4 – another nice fast and flowy singletrack downhill. The rock garden is at the beginning of this section (by the school). We’ll be going to the left and routing around the big heinous part of the rock garden – but don’t fret there are still plenty of rocks in section 5 for those that like the tech stuff!
5 – cross the wood bridge and get ready to rattle your bones – after 6 hours you might call this section “the pain” – lots of rocks to test your tech skills and make you work!
6 – another wooden bridge and then smooth and fast singletrack – slight uphill back to start
